COVID-19 Update

This section is updated as processes or changes within the Saint Charles Convention Center are adjusted as it relates to COVID-19.

The convention center is open for meetings and events, however the facility will be locked during non-event times. The administrative office has regular business hours of 8am – 5pm. Please call 636-669-3300 for an appointment.

COVID-19 ALERT: We have taken enhanced health and safety measures to protect our venue guests. However, there is an inherent risk of exposure to COVID-19 in any public place where people are present. COVID-19 is an extremely contagious disease that can lead to severe illness and death. By entering the venue, you voluntarily assume all risks related to exposure to COVID-19, and Venue disclaims any and all liability related thereto.
In accordance with the guidance and recommendations set forth by the CDC and local health officials, we respectfully request that the following guests not enter the building:
• Guests who are feeling sick or experiencing cold or flu-like symptoms (including fever, cough and shortness of breath);
• Guests who have been diagnosed with, or believe to have contracted, COVID-19, unless you have had no fever for 72 hours (without use of medicine) and 10 days have passed since symptoms first appeared; and
• Guests who have not been fully vaccinated and have been in contact with an individual diagnosed with COVID-19 within the past 14 days.

Your patience and understanding is greatly appreciated.

AtmosAir, an air purification technology, has been installed as well as UV lighting into our HVAC system. The air purification technology will produce hospital quality air circulated throughout the convention center. See below at the bottom of this page for more information about the technology.

Keeping safety Top of Mind

The Saint Charles Convention Center (SCCC) continues to closely monitor impacts of COVID-19. We are working very closely with Saint Charles County and City Government and following state issued and CDC guidelines.  

The SCCC is putting forth our best efforts, implementing standards within the facility that follow CDC guidelines and precautions.

What are we doing?

  • Following State and local County as well as CDC guidelines.
  • New procedures and processes have been implemented.
  • Social distancing, hand washing and sanitizing is actively promoted throughout the building.
  • We expect attendees to not enter the building if they are not feeling well, have been exposed to someone with COVID-19, or have traveled internationally within the past 14 days.
  • Wellness and travel restrictions are posted on exterior doors.
  • The entire facility has been and is being cleaned, sanitized and disinfected regularly.

AtmosAir Solutions

  • AtmosAir proven air purification technology acts as a continuous disinfectant actively reducing airborne and surface contaminants such as viruses, odors, VOCs, smoke, bacteria, and germs. It helps eliminate odors while reducing dust, mold, mildew, and allergens.
  • Improved Indoor Air Quality – Viruses, odors, bacteria, influenza, and dust will be reduced.
  • Occupant Experience – Reduced odors, overall enhanced indoor environment.

UV Treatment

  • In addition to the Ionization technology that has been installed, air will pass through UV light that will further neutralize any contaminants.
  • Second layer of protection through ventilation and enhanced air quality.

Staffing

Our employees are very important to us, they make our events happen. Without them we would not be successful. We want everyone to be safe and healthy.

  • Employees will not be allowed to work if they are not feeling well.
  • Social distancing is in effect for employees.
  • Gloves may be required in some instances.
  • New trainings are being executed regularly on deep cleaning and contamination prevention techniques.

Building cleanliness

Here at the Saint Charles Convention Center, we have always been complimented on the cleanliness of the facility; that will continue with additional enhancements.

  • Implemented cleaning, sanitizing and disinfecting processes include using cleaners that are compliant with the new EPA standards.
  • All furniture cleaned, sanitized and disinfected.
  • Touch point cleaning will be done continuously, while the building is occupied, a practice we will continue indefinitely.
  • In addition to regular sanitizing, at the end of each event day, each room will be cleaned, sanitized and disinfected. Rooms will be locked to prohibit any contamination.
  • All employees are undergoing training on correct cleaning, sanitizing and disinfecting procedures.
  • Tables and chairs will be sanitized often.
  • Linens will be one time use and washed. Disposable linens may also be utilized.

Food & Beverage

  • Kitchens and food outlets have been thoroughly cleaned, sanitized and disinfected and will continue to be on a regular schedule.
  • Self-service buffets are available upon request.
  • Sneeze guards will be utilized in kiosks and Cafes.
  • Fresh food will be packaged whenever possible. Prepackaged foods will also be served.
  • Food utensils in concession outlets as well as condiments will be provided in single serve packaging and will be delivered from behind food service counters.
  • Plated meal service will be conducted by trained employees.

The Event Management Team has been hard at work developing plans for how we will operate the facility during events.

  • Developing documents to assist planners
    • Provide attendee information - Encourage attendees to protect themselves and follow CDC guidelines.
    • Provide planner information related to managing COVID-19 changes.
  • Room sets to accommodate 6’ social distancing has been created.
  • Additional rooms set to accommodate 3’ social distancing are available upon request.
  • Technology and Audio Visual teams are available to assist with implementing virtual aspects for meetings. Speakers can still reach the ideal number of attendees using multiple spaces.

What might attendees expect to see or experience?

  • Information on the SCCC website.
  • Signage at entry doors related to entrance requirements.
  • Dedicated ingress and egress points.
  • Signage at escalators recommending that riders spread out the appropriate number of steps. Six feet for social distancing is a State requirement.
  • Elevators limited to two per elevator car.
  • Hand sanitizing stations are located throughout the building with CDC recommended alcohol based liquid hand sanitizer.
  • CDC handwashing guidelines posted in all restrooms.
  • Employees wearing PPE while cleaning.
  • In some cases, there may be limited attendance in rooms based on CDC or suggested capacity limits per social distancing.
  • For events subject to bag check (Public shows): No purses, bags, or backpacks will be allowed into the building. Clear bags with a max size of 18”x 12” will be permitted.

How you can protect yourself? (Content from Center for Disease control and Prevention)

Wash your hands often

  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds especially after you have been in a public place, or after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing.
  • If soap and water are not readily available, use a hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol. Cover all surfaces of your hands and rub them together until they feel dry.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.

Avoid close contact

  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
  • Put distance between yourself and other people.

Cover coughs and sneezes

  • If you are in a private setting and do not have on your cloth face covering, remember to always cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when you cough or sneeze or use the inside of your elbow.
  • Throw used tissues in the trash.
  • Immediately wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are not readily available, clean your hands with a hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol.

Steps to help prevent the spread of COVID-19 if you are sick

  • Stay home except to get medical care.
  • Separate yourself from other people.
  • Monitor your symptoms.
  • Call ahead before visiting your doctor.
