Local Organizations Help Promote Active Lifestyles for Kids
ST. CHARLES, MO – Global Spectrum, operator of the Saint Charles Convention Center, has set the schedule for the Kids Block Party at the Saint Charles Convention Center on Saturday, July 26 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. This free community wide event, which is open to the public, is geared towards active lifestyles for children.
The Kids Block Party will feature all sorts of inflatable activities, including a bounce house, Velcro wall, speed pitch cage, obstacle course, giant slide, and “Gotta Go” racers. The “Gotta Go” racers are sure to create laughs for everyone at the event as attendees will race a course while seated on motorized toilets!
“This is our showcase event for Global Spectrum to give back to the community that so wonderfully supports us throughout the year,” stated Global Spectrum’s Shura Lindgren, General Manager at the Saint Charles Convention Center, “We have a great program set in place this year and there will be activities for everyone to enjoy.”
Midwest Martial Arts Academy (MMAA) will be on hand to display the fun and exciting world of kickboxing and the great fitness benefits to children and families. MMAA President Charlie Foxman, a highly sought after wellness and weight loss coach, will personally teach the components of a jump rope program and a martial arts fitness program designed to energize children. Foxman created the EZRope, a fitness tool designed to enhance the health of children, adults and seniors by mimicking the motions of a jump rope. The first 50 attendees to sign up for the jump rope class will receive an EZRope to take home, and the first 50 attendees to sign up for the Martial Arts Fitness class will receive Safety ID Kits.
Foxman will also be promoting the Kid Safe Network, a national educational system that teaches and informs children and parents about "Danger Awareness". He has produced a video that teaches children basic personal protection skills and his programs, volunteer efforts and “Children Beware” video have been recognized by the U.S. Congress. More information on the Kid Safe Network will be available at the Kids Block Party or by visiting www.kidsafenetwork.com.
Other activities offered at the Kids Block Party include a sports area by the St. Charles Parks and Recreation Department, a putt-putt competition sponsored by Swing-A-Round Family Fun Center, arts and crafts presented by The Magic House, a fun and engaging exhibit from the St. Louis Science Center, team building games with the Girl Scouts, and a visit by the Kids Klub Gymbus.
